Many people say they want to lose 5 lbs, eat better or get into shape. Have you ever thought to include your dog in these resolutions? If you want to lose 5 lbs, why not start taking your dog for a walk with you? Want to eat healthier so you will feel better? I bet your dog would be pretty thankful if you also considered him in this resolution. Make your resolutions obtainable. Don’t set unrealistic goals, you will only dissappoint yourself and feel guilty- be nice to yourself and your dog! Happy 2012 everyone!!

Have you been considering bringing some joy to your life by adding a dog to your family? Trust me when I say that adopting a dog is an amazing feeling! Not only are you giving a little creature a second chance, that dog will be eternally grateful for your kindness! We recently adopted a rescue puppy. We were just going to foster her…. she was just so happy to have a bed to sleep in and get some cuddles!!! She is full of love and completely devoted! I encourage anyone who is toying with getting a new dog, check out your local shelters and rescue groups before heading to breaders or stores. Rescued and adopted pets are just waiting for someone to love them a fraction of the amount they will love you. If you need more reasons, check out this article from Dogster

If you are looking to slim your pooch back a few pounds, you can consider feeding bison. Bison is a very lean meat. It is also hypo-allergenic, so if you’ve noticed that your dog has been itchy or has other signs of allergies try alternating their protein source to bison. Our Bison and Berries has Bison trim and organ meat as well as sweet potatoes, Saskatoon berries and lentils.

Did you know your dog sweats through his paws! A nice way to cool your dog down on those long hot dog days of summer is to soak their paws in a kiddie pool! Dogs also enjoy frozen treats such as frozen apple sauce, to make this a bit easier for you to hold on to when letting your dog lick it, put a popsicle stick in an individual sized apple sauce and freeze. If you want to get gourmet you can blend a banana with some yogurt, applesauce and strawberries and freeze in small containers. You can even eat one!!!

“Everyone produces gas. This includes the Queen of England, supermodels and Weimaraners. The first thing I recommend is to accept that no matter what you do, your dog still will have gas now and then. Gas alone, in the absence of vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, poor appetite, or failure to thrive, does not necessarily mean that your dog has a stomach problem.

However, if your dog’s gas seems excessive and it a nuisance to you, consider experimenting with a diet change. Humans with flatulence issues should avoid beans, cabbage, broccoli, and any other food with a demonstrated history of exacerbating their gas. Diet is the simplest way to deal with gas in dogs as well. Easily digestible diets often lead to reduced gas. Also consider eliminating rich human foods from your dog’s diet.”

Share the Essentials of Life

The dog has been our “Best Friend” throughout much of human history. For most of that time dog food did not come in a bag. Dogs ate what their people ate and through observation and intuition people figured out what they needed and what they liked best. It is this kind of wisdom that helped create Farm Fresh Pet Foods – a combination of ingredients that just make sense.

Farm Fresh Pet Foods starts with beef or bison as our main ingredient. In order to get the essential nutrients of organ meats we also include the heart, liver and kidneys in our meals.

Dogs if left to their own devices would eat more than just meat. They would eat the contents of the whole animals they consume and they would eat fruits and vegetables too. Depending on the recipe Farm Fresh Pet Foods has chosen a combination of carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, alfalfa, oatmeal, flax, canola oil, raspberries, Saskatoon berries and kelp to supplement the base of beef or bison ensuring a nutritious and tasty meal for your dog.

Dogs are excellent scavengers – a trait that probably helped bring us together so many millennia ago! On their own they would steal food like eggs from unprotected nests. We found that eggs also helped us balance the calcium phosphorus ratio so we added some them too – shells and all!

Dogs have a much sharper sense of smell than touch or even sight. Smell tells a dog if they should taste or not taste. The combination of ingredients found in Farm Fresh Pet Food sets off a sensory explosion of smell and taste. We affectionately call is TNT or a TOTALLY NATURAL TASTE! Dogs will always recognize a natural food free of flavor enhancers, colouring additives and preservatives – their instincts won’t let them avoid it.

Let your dog be a dog and let them eat a Natural Diet.
